KORN: Behind-The-Scenes Footage From Making Of 'Rotting In Vain' Video
July 25, 2016Behind-the-scenes footage from the making of KORN's video for the song "Rotting In Vain", starring Tommy Flanagan (of "Sons Of Anarchy" and "Gladiator" fame) can be seen below. Of the track, frontman Jonathan Davis told Rolling Stone: "'Rotting In Vain' was written about being in that black place, being in situations that I don't like in life — be it relationships, or feeling when you're stuck and you're just being abused or you don't like where you're at, and you just sit there and rot. It takes you years and years to figure out how to claw your way out. That's where 'Rotting In Vain' came from. I'm just sitting there, fucking dying and letting it happen for years and years and not helping myself to get out of that place. That's the vibe that inspired the song."
"Rotting In Vain" is taken from KORN's twelfth album, "The Serenity Of Suffering", which will be released on October 21 via Roadrunner. Grammy-award winner Nick Raskulinecz, who has worked with FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES and MASTODON, produced the disc. The follow-up to 2013's "The Paradigm Shift" features a guest appearance by SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor on the song "A Different World".
Davis told Rolling Stone that he wasn't initially inspired to write lyrics to the music created by guitarists Brian "Head" Welch and James "Munky" Shaffer.
"I knew the songs were good. I knew the guys poured their hearts into it, but I just could not feel anything," Davis said. "It took me a couple of times, a couple of times, and things started trickling out. I never had a more difficult time making a record than this one creatively. The end result made it that much greater."
KORN's tour with ROB ZOMBIE, "Return Of The Dreads", kicked off July 19 in Englewood, Colorado, and will wind down on September 3 in Bristow, Virginia. The band will hit the road again with BREAKING BENJAMIN on September 24 in Fargo, North Dakota, for the "Nocturnal Underground" tour.
